Stanley Kubrick

American director, writer, producer, and photographer. He worked far beyond the confines of the Hollywood system, maintaining almost complete artistic control and making movies according to the whims and time constraints of no one but himself, but with the rare advantage of big-studio financial support for all his endeavors. He directed a number of highly acclaimed and often controversial films that have often been perceived as a reflection of his obsessive and perfectionist nature.His films are characterized by a formal visual style and meticulous attention to detail – often combining elements of surrealism and expressionism with an ironic pessimism,while also being among the "most original, provocative, and visionary motion pictures ever made". In a duration of about 50 years, he made only 13 feature films. Notable films include 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Dr. Strangelove, Paths of Glory, Spartacus, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, The Killing & Lolita.

Akira Kurosawa

Japanese film director, producer, screenwriter and editor. In a career that spanned 50 years, Kurosawa directed 30 films. He is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential filmmakers in film history. In 1989, he was awarded the Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement "for cinematic accomplishments that have inspired, delighted, enriched and entertained worldwide audiences and influenced filmmakers throughout the world." Notable films include Rashomon(1950), Seven Samurai (1954), Ikiru(1952), Hakuchi(1951), Kumonosu jo(1957) & Derusu Uzara(1975)

Satyajit Ray

Indian Bengali filmmaker. He is regarded as one of the greatest auteurs of 20th century cinema. Ray directed thirty-seven films, including feature films, documentaries and shorts. He was also a fiction writer, publisher, illustrator, graphic designer and film critic. Ray's first film, Pather Panchali (1955), won eleven international prizes, including Best Human Document at the Cannes film festival. Alongside Aparajito (1956) and Apur Sansar (1959), the three films form The Apu Trilogy. Ray did the scripting, casting, scoring, cinematography, art direction, editing and designed his own credit titles and publicity material. Ray received many major awards in his career, including 32 Indian National Film Awards, a number of awards at international film festivals and award ceremonies, and an Academy Honorary Award in 1992. He's also known for other films like Calcutta Trilogy, Charulata, Devi, Abhijaan etc.
